Today's Fast Sunday--

Which is, for those who arent sure.....

When the Primary kids sing all their songs REALLY FAST !

At least that's how "Sister Jeanes" the Crazy Song lady in Primary used to do it!

I got released from my primary chorister calling a couple of months ago.

The "stated" reason given by those in "authority" was....so I could be more available for Marky cause he's often sick on Sundays, among all the other days.

But I have suspicions about that given reason.

I may have been a little too......oh,.....irreverent in my methods !

This dawned on me when I was asked to sub for the "new" chorister a couple of weeks ago.

As soon as i got up to .."do my thing" with the kids.......one of the leaders in the back of the room quietly got up and slithered over to the door and non-chalantly closed it.

Somehow I have a knack for raising the Decibel level with those kids !

We used to sing..."Primary children sang as they RAN and Ran and Ran and Ran".....all around the room !

Sang Extra FAST on Fast Sunday.

Changed the words on "The Lord commanded Nephi to go and get the Plates"...to...: "The Lord commanded Nephi to go and get the Knives and Forks" !

And of course, the "Missionary Stew Song", otherwise known as "I hope they call me on a Mission".......

This was re-named, as the last line of the songs sings...."JUST LIKE MISSIONARY STEW".....Not "JUST LIKE MISSIONARIES DO" !

And other Hair raising, spirit boosting , sensible improvements.

All I wanted the kids to do was...feel the spirit ! AND LOTS OF IT !

As my brother Lee would say....

IM NOT SORRY !

Amen Sistah!

I did the same thing. I even had the "angels" stand on the short chairs while we sang "Angels we have heard on high"...really loud.

I'm not sorry either.

You are hilarious! I loved when you taught the songs. Never a dry moment! You are famous in my family.

Don't forget when you cut the bishopric ties.

This is Lisa, Mac's mom (Mackenzie) . . who was diagnosed with the same disease almost 3 years ago. I was telling my daughter's GI at her visit the other day about Mark and another kid in the US diagnosed. There is another girl as well who is 6. Would love a chance to get to talk to you sometime! My daughter's has had 15 major surgeries..and is hooked up and rigged and alive and doing really well right now. Also went thru rounds of chemo, etc. double ostomy, removal of right side of colon, multiple bowel obstructions, etc. Has a generator and electrodes now as well to urinate. The Sclerosing Mesenteritis has been a disaster and a mess. Would love to talk to you sometime! :)

Oh, we had such fun together in Primary!! My fav was when you brought the Bishop up to wear a little Chinese hat while you taught the children to sing 'I Am a Child of God' in Chinese. You had made up the most hilarious words that sounded like the real Chinese ones to help them remember it. I laughed 'til I cried.

What I want to know is why on earth were you looking at the leader who shut the door as you walked to the front to sub? I know what you would have seen if you had been looking at the children's faces instead: every little face scrunched into an excited grin and every pair of eyes sparkling!

Even if you are not in Primary, keep singing -- all day, in your heart, and outloud, not too reverently!

Miss you! Cathy

Ok! First of all do I slither?? Really?? Maybe I shut the door, but only because I have people beating my door down trying to get into a primary calling after they hear what you're up to. I just don't need that kind of pressure! What would I do all day if I didn't have to sit around and think about who I could ask to be in Primary? Please!! :)

And secondly... you were absolutely NOT fired! I would say more like very reluctantly given up with the clause that we can call you back every other week (sometimes more).

Now that the record is straight I just want you to know how much we LOVE you! Primary is missing sister Jeanes in a big way. You have such a loving kind heart and a wonderful way to communicate through the spirit to those kids and the grown-ups (if you can call us that). We love everything about you Sister Jeanes!! Don't change a thing. We miss you Lynette and hope you come back often (I'm sure we'll take care of that).

Love,
Debbie

Thanks Debbie !
Im chuckling !
You know I cant ever tell a story without enhancing the details ! OR....sing a song without enhancing, for that matter !
You didnt really FIRE me? Oh, I feel better now ! I love you too !
