ALMOST A WEEK

"MOM...I'M SOOOO HUNGRY ! "

HE'S WITHERIN AWAY TO NUTHIN !

The first 3 days without the "EVIL-DOER'S",  Marky refused to swallow ANYTHING !  Not even his spit!

I walked in to the room and looked at the Captain.  He looked like he was holding somethin in his mouth....

I said, "Whats in your mouth, soldier?"

He said, " Mm'm mm mmmm!"

(refer to the tonsilectomese/english dictionary for translation)

If you cant locate yers.....He said..

" It's my SPIT !"

HE WOULDNT EVEN SWALLOW HIS DANG SALIVA !

A few threats and some "Mom-guilt" stories later, Marky did take a few sips...with a death glare aimed at his momma :)

I got to reach into my archives of  "Mom-tactic's" once again!

I love it when I get to do this!

I learned from THE best Mom in the universe!  My mom had a real gift, alright!

She could get a kid to eat or drink ANYTHING!

Cold, lumpy, 3 hrs old staring up at me getting thicker by the minute OATMEAL comes to mind....

Mom would stand there in the kitchen with her apron on, hands on her hips in the "I mean business" position and issue the order!

It started with "the look".  ....you know....THAT "LOOK" !

She really need'nt say any more than...That look!

But she would....She must!    Her strategies were handed down to her....from THE best, too..no doubt about that.

I heard stories of starving children in Africa.  My stomach was going to shrivel up if I didnt eat that bowl of delicious oatmeal that she had slaved over a hot stove to cook, and many other effective words of wisdom.

Us kids did not dare respond verbally during these sessions.  Let alone, cry, or even look like crying might happen.....

"You wanna cry ????  I'll give you something to cry about, young lady!"  Yeah, that always worked!

So, lovingly,  nostalgically, and with pride (minus the apron)....
I issued the same tried and true battle tactics to my son!

Only the response I got from him was.....the rolling of eyes and shaking the head.  Which again, translated from the Tonsillectomese/English dictionary meant....

"Nice try mom,  but I STILL ain't gonna do it !"

KIDS THESE DAYS !
